Walked quite a bit today...

J, G & I went for a walk through our apartment complex (quite large and we live all the way in the very back!) to get the mail, and then, feeling brave, we pushed beyond our comfort zone and kept on walking right out of the complex, down the road, took a right and walked down past the fire department, then turned around and walked back past our road and took a left and basically walked around the block, well, several, but we cut down one street to check out our neighbors and wow...there are a lot of rentals that really need some work nearby.

On the way back J took a quick detour and swam for a few minutes in the complex pool. G and I weren't exactly appropriately dressed for swimming so we cheered J on swimming from the shallow to the deep end and back again...he was racing Polliwag, or was it Poliwhirl? (Pokemon).

We came back home, G went down for a nap and J did a phonics lesson. Afterwards we went to one of the local malls where we walked and walked and walked some more. We weren't looking for anything, just getting out of the house, thank goodness it's practically next door (we could walk there in about 10-15 minutes). J decided he was hungry so I sprung for Wendy's and he had nuggets, fries and fruit punch. Ginny chomped down some Cheerios and downed her grape juice for lunch. I had a rootbeer...one of those things I love, but not if I have it all the time. More walking and then we hit the highway and went in search of a book store. Barnes and Noble, to be exact. We spent about an hour and a half in there. I wish we had tons of money because we'd have shelves and shelves of books. I was looking for a 3rd grade workbook for J, but they had all the grades BUT 3rd grade. But we spent some $34 bucks there anyways and walked away with a Wall-E sticker book, a book about Ancient Greece, another about Ancient Rome, a Pokemon book with a poster in it and a cloth book for G that we found on the clearance table.

Now, here we are, back at home. J did three more phonics lessons http://www.headsprout.com and his next one is 71, and there's only 80 lessons. :) So he's getting there! I've been reading to him each night from his Pokemon book of choice and he looks forward to the one on one time with me since G is already in bed for the night and Tim has left for work already.

I'm starving...off to warm up some beans and rice...may add a wee bit of mozzarella cheese for some extra flavor. Yumm!

Yet another day in the life of this Wheeler Family!
