We helped a friend this weekend, and hopefully her parents as well. I can't tell you how IMPORTANT it is to communicate. If you have something to say, SAY IT, don't sugar coat it, just SAY IT! I have a feeling a lot more communicating will be going on and we hope positive changes will be the outcome. Send some prayers their way, will ya?
Left Fri, got back yesterday. We stopped to see P and Dad on the way home. It's always great to see them, but I know my dad just needs to pop a valium or something before we get there. He's always well behaved, LOL, but I know how he is (very much OCD) and it makes him a wee nervous to have an autistic grandson running around the house and a newly walking baby toddling around on their tile floors. Dad's getting old, 67...he looks great, but you can tell his body is starting to tell him he can't do manual labor anymore. (yes, he's 67 and had more accidents and surgeries than even I can remember and he's STILL doing hard labor for a job!). He's the type of guy that the minute he stops working and lays down, his body will probably give up and he'll die. So he refuses to go down easily and will work, probably, until the day he dies. (which I pray isn't for a long, LONG time!). P is always a breath of fresh air...and it's nice to talk to other adults with good heads on their shoulders. It's hard to see our parents get older, though.
J got to do a few hours of swimming this weekend. Even G got in her baby float with the sun shade and kicked around in the smaller part of the pool for about an hour. Great times with friends and family, glad we got to see everyone.
I was contacted recently to do some quilts for a woman for her children...for holiday gifts. I'm VERY excited at the prospect of a custom order, but nervous at the same time. I remember being so nervous with every order I made with Justin's Buttons (cloth diapers, etc) and Auntie Stacy's Afghan's & More...to make things positively PERFECT is my goal, always, and a tiny flaw will make me nuts so I've learned to take my time and get everything right...I can remember writing and rewriting my grocery lists because I didn't like how a particular word looked, or a letter didn't come out perfect. (uhmm, yeah, OCD? You bet!) Thank goodness I've learned to let some things go.
On the way to our friends house T and I did a lot of talking. It's amazing that even after almost 13 years we can still discover something new about one another. I have a great husband...he'd do anything for me, including losing, literally, 2 days sleep to help our friend. I'm so lucky! ;)
J had a super language day on Saturday (using words like Typhoon). In case you didn't realize, J is 9 and has autism, as well as SID (sensory integration dysfunction disorder). So having a "GREAT" day is super fantastic where J is concerned!
I believe Ginny is officially a walker...walks everywhere, although if it's too far she'll still resort to crawling. And I think she's cutting some more teeth (she has 4 on top and 4 on bottom at 11 months old and has had them for about 5-6 months now?!)....she's biting on everything SO hard as if trying to relieve some pressure in her mouth.
Still settling from our weekend away. Doing laundry, cleaning out the fridge, catching up on e-mails and snail mail.
Well, that's all I have to report for now. Keep in touch everyone! SO glad to see my niece and friend from when I was growing up on my "friends" list on my MySpace page! (can you tell I'm a newbie at the blogging and MySpace thing?! LOL)
Til next time!
